Part two: Bubbles comes to her new house!
Cuddled in the arms of the lady, I was in deep sleep. Pom Pom Mmm! (Horn)..loud noises made my ears pop. The dried tears in my eyes made it difficult for me to open them. I rubbed my eyes with my paws and looked around. I was seated in the front seat along with the same lady who carried me to the car. Next to me was the same man driving the car. There was a huge transparent glass through which I could see moving vehicles honking. It was terrifying. The lady held me so close to her that her breath gave me comfort. She placed me on her lap after a while and ran her fingers through my fur. I turned and looked into her eyes and she gave me a big smile.
The car halted! The lady and the man were talking about arrival time. We were waiting. The lady placed me on the rear seat of the car and rolled the windows down. They both got out of the car and were waiting right outside the car door. The lady and the man were watching me through the transparent glass window.
Meanwhile, I explored the car and suddenly my nose caught this aroma of something sweet. It was bread. I grabbed the cover and tore it into pieces, ate some, and nibbled a few. It made me tired and I returned to sleep.
Cheers in the air! All seemed very excited. Everything seemed hazy to me as I was still sleepy and tired. Another lady swung open the rear door and looked at me in surprise and said “what a lovely puppy u got”. “It’s so adorable”, she said. The lady with the familiar scent lifted me with both her hands and took me close to her and said “Mama, this is our new pup, a german shepherd by breed. A gift that I got for my husband”. Her mama gave a wide smile before she sat in the car and closed the rear door. The lady sat back in the front seat along with me and placed me back on her lap. The man ran his fingers through my fur. I tried to move to sniff him but the moving car made me lose balance so I stayed down experiencing the drive. The car stopped and this time all doors swung open. The lady held me close to her and carried me. Everything seemed different and new. It was a different place with huge buildings and trees around. All three people walked some distance and got into a box with doors. They pressed a button and we moved upwards.
The Box halted and a voiceover instantly played in the background singing “elevator doors open”. We walked into a long corridor and stopped outside a wooden door. The lady who was carrying all the while put me down and told me, “There you go! we reached home”.
I stretched my hind legs and walked around sniffing and explored the new house. I felt free and experienced new smells.
It was a huge place. It appeared bright and shiny. Whenever I walked a shadow followed me and as I stopped to look at it closely, it felt like another pup attached to my paws. I would run and roll like a ball and it would keep following me. Every time i barked at it, the three people in the house laughed. Later the man came to me, gave a smile and lifted me, and said “You silly girl, it’s your reflection baby”.
He petted me and took me to this corner in the house where he placed me on a cushion. The cushion was fluffy and soft. It felt so good and while I rubbed myself on it, the man said “do you like it? It’s for you”.Was it really for me?, I thought to myself. Yay! I was so excited. Then I ran to the lady and pulled her dress with my teeth. She came along and I kept following her big feet. The man and the lady whistled at me and gave me a small wooden toy to play with and kept calling me by the name “Bubbles”….!I loved the toy and was occupied with it. I hopped happily every time I got the attention.
Oh ! I sighed and had a moment of relief. I lay flat on the floor with both my hinds backward and both my forearms forward. My stomach felt cool on the floor. I relaxed. Later, the people in the house settled down. They all sat down sipping tea. The woman and man discussed taking me to the park the next day and I was looking forward to it.
